A group buy is simple: shoppers join a group, and when it reaches a goal, everyone gets a discount. But “one group, one price” doesn’t fit every product. A $49 accessory, a pack of refills and a store full of add-ons all want different mechanics.

Farabiulder Group Buy, our Shopify group buying app, now supports four. Watch all of them in 30 seconds, then read on for which one suits your products.

A 30-second walkthrough of the four Farabiulder Group Buy deal types: Group buying, Multi-tier, Volume climb and Bundle + group (sample data).

All numbers below are sample data from the campaign editor preview with a $49.00 example product, not results.

1. Group buying: one shared discount

The classic. Shoppers see “Join a group and pay $39.20” and a progress bar to the target (“1 more to go: everyone saves $9.80”). They can pick an open group or start a private one and share the link.

Use it for: a single hero product with a social following, or a launch where you want a clear, simple offer.

2. Multi-tier: a tiered group discount that drops as the group grows

Instead of one target there’s a ladder, for example 5% off at 3 people, 10% at 5 and 15% at 8. Every new member improves the price for everyone already in, so early buyers have a reason to share. Groups are open, so strangers browsing the same product can join too.

Use it for: products where you want many buyers on one SKU, and stores with an engaged community.

3. Volume climb: a volume discount that grows with the cart

Here the ladder is the group’s total cart value, in your shop’s currency. The shopper sees “Add $141.00 more, save $19.00” and a list called “Items that get you there”, each tagged with what it unlocks.

Use it for: stores with accessories, add-ons or complementary products, where average order value matters more than headcount. If order value is your main goal, our guide to how to increase average order value covers the wider toolbox.

4. Bundle + group: sell packs, not single items

Fixed packs with their own discount: “Group of 2: $44.10, 10% off”, “Group of 3: $41.65, 15% off”, tagged “Most popular” and “Best value”. A Solo option keeps the full price for people who only want one.

Use it for: consumables, gifts, and anything people already buy in twos and threes. Not sure whether a pack or a quantity break is the better fit? Read volume discount vs bundle, or our product bundling strategy guide.

How refunds work with tiered prices

With Multi-tier and Volume climb, the price is only final when the campaign ends. If the group reaches a higher tier after someone orders, they’re refunded the difference. On the storefront that reads as: “Your price can only go down.”

By default, refunds are reviewed by the merchant one by one on the Refunds page. You can turn on automatic refunds with your own rules, and choose between the original payment method and store credit.

Already using Farabiulder Group Buy?

Nothing changes in your store until you switch. Open the Group Buy dashboard and use “Switch to the new storefront panel”. Your existing campaigns keep their discounts, groups and status. The switch can’t be undone from the admin, so check the preview first.

New here? Find Farabiulder Group Buy on the Shopify App Store. The listing links to a demo store, so you can see all four deal types on a real storefront first. Place a test order with the bogus card number 1; no real payment is taken. Setup questions: docs.farabiulder.com or hi@farabiulder.com.

Frequently Asked Questions

What are the four group buy types in Farabiulder Group Buy?

Group buying (one shared discount that unlocks when the group fills), Multi-tier (a discount ladder by group size), Volume climb (a discount that grows with the group's total cart value) and Bundle + group (fixed packs of two, three or more, each with its own discount, plus a Solo option at full price).

What happens if the group reaches a higher tier after I order?

On Multi-tier and Volume climb campaigns the price is only final when the campaign ends. If the group reaches a higher tier after a shopper orders, they are refunded the difference. The storefront panel says it plainly: your price can only go down.

Are refunds automatic?

Not by default. Refunds are reviewed one by one on the Refunds page. A merchant can turn on automatic refunds with their own rules, and can send money back to the original payment method or as store credit.

Do I have to switch my existing campaigns to the new panel?

Nothing changes in your store until you switch. Existing campaigns keep their discounts, groups and status when you do. The switch cannot be undone from the admin, so check the preview first.
